The Ultimate XR Device - A Dream? Part 2
In Part 1 of this series I looked at Form Factor and three aspects of User Experience (User Interface, Visual Interface and Audio Interface). In the second part of this series I want to look at more aspects of my dream, these include:
Participation in a Multiple Modality Ecosystem
The Role of Security using AI and Cloud Services
Sharing XR Devices
The Ultimate XR Device - A Dream? Part 1
This article is part one in an extended series and this initial part exceeds the length of my previous posts, as I am deeply passionate about the evolution of XR devices. I firmly believe in the potential of XR and the Metaverse, and I am convinced that enhancements in the available devices will pave the way for a truly wearable, spatial computer that will surpass desktops, laptops, and mobile devices in ubiquity. I have a dream, a large, complex dream! Please bear with me.
XR and the (Industrial) Metaverse, Now or Later?
Extended Reality (XR) and the Industrial Metaverse are emerging technologies that merit serious consideration. This article outlines my comprehension of these technologies, their interrelation, and the advantages of adopting them now rather than delaying until they fully mature.
XR Use Case Deep Dive 3 : Training
The use of Virtual Reality (VR) is probably one of the most mature use cases for XR Technology. Many organisations have implemented VR training programs and have reaped the benefits. However with new Technologies like the Apple Vision Pro, and with new Development Platforms that support DIY Development, it’s becoming much more cost effective to implement. In addition new aspects to XR being used to gather data to train AI Models like those being worked on by NVIDIA and the Apple Vision Pro - the world of XR Training is getting even more exciting!
XR Use Case Deep Dive 2 : Situational Awareness
Digital Twins offer real-time monitoring, and Spatial Twins connect the physical and digital realms, enabling interactive experiences. Situational Awareness underpins the provision of a Spatial Twin, providing context of a location, individual, and work goal or event. Even without an existing Digital Twin or Spatial Twin application, Situational Awareness XR Experiences can be created, serving as foundational elements for developing a Spatial Twin capability.
XR Use Case Deep Dive 1 : Guided Work Instruction
When we think about business use cases where XR will bring significant benefit Immersive or Spatial Collaboration immediately comes to mind as discussed in my article XR and Metaverse are enablers for a new era of Collaboration. However Guided Work Instruction can bring significant benefits to many industries and when integrated with Collaboration capabilities this can be a very powerful capability.
XR : Experience is Everything!
When you develop an application for a screen, the screen serves as your canvas. On the other hand, in the realm of XR application development, your canvas expands to encompass the entire world, be it virtual, physical, or a hybrid of both. By taking these elements into account during the design phase of XR applications, they inherently adopt a Natural Workflow, transforming the application into an Experience.
XR Delivering Data in Context
Data is the new Oil! Data is critical to almost anything we do. In this post I discuss how Data can be delivered in context with XR and Metaverse Technologies. In addition I discuss the Spatial Twin and how they bring new benefits compared with Digital Twins.
XR and Metaverse are enablers for a new era of Collaboration.
Further to my second blog post on the Apple Vision Pro where I discussed its capabilities relating to collaboration, in this blog post I want to go more into the details regarding how XR and Metaverse technologies can lead us on a journey towards Immersive Collaboration features that can facilitate new ways of working when looking at how remote groups of people work together.
My Apple Vision Pro Journey, Part 4 : Where do we go from here?
So far I’ve been very positive about the Apple Vision Pro, but its not all Sunshine and Roses. In this blog post I mention some of the negative points and discuss where I think we need to go from here.
My Apple Vision Pro Journey, Part 3 : Realism and Immersion
Two important elements diving deeper into User Experience. Realism and Immersion are key to the Wow moment. In this blog post I look at how the Vision Pro ranks considering these two important measures.
My Apple Vision Pro Journey, Part 2 : Basic Collaboration
I have many years of experience in building simple and highly complex Collaboration Solutions and Services. This is an area of Technology that I love. This second blog post on the Apple Vision Pro focuses on its most basic Collaboration features.
My Apple Vision Pro Journey, Part 1 : User Experience
One Week after using the Apple Vision Pro, and Im on a journey! This is my first in a series of Blog Posts on the Apple Vision Pro. This post focuses on one of the most important aspects, User Experience.
